I am just back from a dinner at Sushi East, All you can eat in downtown St. Catharines. Before I write anything else lemme tell you that food is good and I would rate it a seven on a ten scale. Do go here if you have a huge group, more than 3 at least as you get to try more variety.
Now, more about this place, this place is true to its name! All you can eat.. literally! You can order all how many ever dishes you want! Before you imagine a table full of food lemme warn you, U will have to pay for food you don't manage to eat! So, order as you eat! What else does All you can eat mean? Pick up the menu and you would understand! They serve everything that grows under the sea and on the ground. Yes, they do. They serve pumpkins to beans, egg plants to potatoes and Tuna to sea weeds. For a desi like me, who has gone to a Japanese restaurant for the first time it was a huge surprise!!! People eat sea weed!! Isn't it supposed to me unhealthy! They eat mussles! No wonder pearls are so rare! I was surprised to see the menu and food being ordered by my friends! Oh ya, my friends are international as in there are people from Canada, Trinidad, Turkey, France, Italy, China, Denmark etc and what did they order - eels, fish eggs, salmons, calamari and what not! I was feeling weird, out of place but my dear B school has also taught me to act decent, to adapt to new cultures etc etc! Hmm... Now, there I was eating Chicken curry and rice with a neatly dressed eel right in front of my eyes! Should have seen my face then! I had the weirdest expression trying to smile in all the pics that were taken. Poor me!!!
After my initial surprises I got used to seeing the eel being eaten and ordered another dish of chicken. Meanwhile Diana, my buddy from Toronto, ordered for a Sushi, and for all those ignorant junta like me, a Sushi is rice with a layer of raw meat on it, yes raw meat! Diana ordered some Tuna Sushi that is, a mouthful of rice covered with fish, raw tuna, just with its outer skin n scales removed!!!! @$#@#$
Hmm... though I did not feel as uncomfortable as Madhavan in Rehna hain tere dil mein, I did reach pretty close to it! I thought I would feel very uncomfortable if I did not tell somebody about my experience with Sushi's, hence penning it down here!!! Huff!!! I feel better now :)
